DWV is rolling out new technology that will enhance the company’s aim to reduce waste and its impact on the environment. A successful trial of UV primer and filler in 2021 has led to DWV launching this new technology across its nationwide network of SMART repair technicians.
There is no waste involved in the process as well as no cleaning or pouring. Less product is used compared to conventional primer and UV products will not cure until exposed to the UV light, which means they require no mixing or reducing and do not have a ‘use by’ date, therefore reducing waste.
There are further advantages apart from the environmental benefits. This process is fast curing, complete in under five seconds for the filler and under two minutes for a primer with UV light. It also increases productivity and is considered to be ideal for small repairs. UV technology is easy to prepare and apply, and is resistant to shrinkage, so fewer post-repair issues arise. This process also means that spray guns are not needed.
